How do I restore frequently used and scratched sterling silver flatware to its original condition?

I have my grandmother’s Sterling silver flatware and would like to restore it as best I can. It polishes well. My grandmother used it as everyday flatware, so it has many scratches from use. I cant afford to have it professionally restored, so I was hoping there was a way for me to do it myself. Thanks for any advice you can give.

You can shine it, but, to make it "picture perfect" you will have to have it "replated"…

And I say, Good for ol Granny! She is a "real" person, not to SAVE that silverware for a "rainy day"…

Use it while your still here, and dont worry about saving it for the next generation because they can get thier own, or they can have it replated if they want to use it too!

Your Grandma had the right idea and I applaud her! :)

    I wish you well…
